Fusion: The why behind our gatherings

I entered 2018 with feelings of trepidation and expectation, and both continue to jostle one another now this year is well underway.

They stem from a growing conviction that God is on the move. I sense the green shoots of revival fighting to penetrate through the land and a society that is groaning and longing for new life. C.S. Lewis writes prophetically:

“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight, At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more, When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death, And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”

C. S. Lewis

Aslan is on the move. The lion of Judah is roaring over Europe. In Autumn 2016, when at a gathering in the heart of Europe I saw Jesus like a lion prowling over the continent of Europe. Like a teenager etching their name into a tree to leave their mark, I saw Jesus making deep incisions into the land. With powerful claws he was writing his name, so far reaching that they touched and exposed the molten rock below. The name of Jesus was written across the heart of Europe joining East and West, North and South, and it blazed bright with a red hot fire. Amidst huge contesting and uncertainty, there is no doubt who this continent belongs to.

In years gone by I have had a huge excitement about revival

Today I feel more sobered. I sense it is here and it is coming and there is nothing I can do about it. I am beginning to feel the heat of its fire and the resulting ash it will deposit in my life, as yet more of my agenda gets burned up and surrendered to a greater Kingdom cause. Yet at the same time I feel compelled to pursue this holy fire with everything I have, I am lost and ruined without it.

Ignition moments are moments where we encounter God in a deeper way. Often tangible where God impresses upon us something more of his will and calling for our lives. Over my life I've had a handful. I sense that this year God wants to increase the frequency and intensity of these moments, in order that we might carry his fire in such a way as to define our identity and contribute to God’s world going forward.

Firebrands will be raised up and wildfires started

I hear the sound of His roar and can feel him roaring in me. Within Fusion we have been making a faith filled response to this and it feels both challenging and inconvenient.

Come and join us for what we believe will be significant moments in the life of this movement:

Purpose and Fire: Firebrands Conference

It is time to light a new generation of firebrands and this is a three day gathering for students and student workers to be ignited with God’s fire. It is an opportunity to be equipped and inspired to participate with what God is doing across the student world. The church is mandated to reach the student world and we must align ourselves with heaven's agenda and purpose for Europe’s 25 million students.

Friendship and Fire: Wildfires Gathering

Fusion are partnering in a deep and committed way with many churches, movements and organisations. So much Kingdom collaboration comes out of deep friendship, and hanging out with friends at Wildfires Festival is something we want to do. We are going as a Fusion team and would love you to join us. We are anticipating it to be a place of encounter and ignition, as we seek God together. I am convinced Kingdom relationships will fuel revival fire.

Wildfires

Purpose and Fire: A day of prayer and fasting

At the last Fusion conference many responded to the challenge to gather as small groups of friends to pray. We were inspired by student mission history and recent ignition moments in Budapest. As a Fusion team we are going to gather on the 6th March in Oxford with James Aladiran and we welcome you to join us.

However, we would rather you gather a small group of friends and meet to pray on your campus so that across Europe we unite in prayer around:

  • More Holy Spirit ignition moments among students
  • A new wave of missional student small groups
  • Student leaders living with boldness and missional imagination

There is no sign up, we'll just post a simple prayer guide on social media the day before. Together we will create a deafening roar in heaven for this generation.

In Oxford, or where you are, 6th March 2018.

Prayer Day

God bless and anoint you for the year ahead.
