Christians in Media: Good News Matters

Christians in media provides a community for Chrsitians working in and with the media in the UK, to support, inspire and encourage each other in work and faith. Feyi, shares all about the Christians in Media mentorship scheme.

Our media needs Christians now more than ever.

We are in an age of misinformation, “fake news” and clickbait.

Unfortunately, what is true is not always popular. The world is moving more rapidly than ever, with artificial intelligence becoming more and more popular and with new social media platforms springing up daily.

Because of this, we believe it is important to have new voices that uphold truth, accuracy and represent Jesus in this important area of public service. This is why we have launched the second year of our Christians in Media Mentoring Programme. The pilot programme was a great success, with our mentees feeling equipped and prepared for the world of media that awaits them and some of them embarking on new jobs!

And this year we wish to do the same, but even better. We are inviting 18-25 year olds who work in or want to break into the media industry to apply to our 6 month programme in which they will receive one-to-one mentoring from media professionals with years of experience.

This programme is designed for young Christians who want to work in social media, content creation, journalism/broadcasting, radio producing or hosting, PR, or any sector of the media and don’t know where they can start! Regardless of where in the UK you are based or the amount of experience you have, we encourage you to apply for this programme, it promises to be extremely impactful!

What can mentees expect to get from the programme?

  • One-to-one mentoring from media professional in their desired part of the industry
  • A dedicated slack channel where you can communicate with your mentor and other mentees
  • A special kick off weekend in early May with inspirational speakers
  • Work placements and opportunities within the media sector
  • Travel expenses covered where necessary

TESTIMONIALS

Max, one of our pilot mentees had this to say:

“When I started, I felt like I was taking a step in the dark, but now I feel I’ve got someone with the language, the tools, the contacts to help me know what I need to do”

Carys, a former mentee said this: “The programme really helped to me think about what I can do practically to represent Jesus in the media.” Carys now hosts her own ‘The Revival Breakfast Show’ on Revival FM, one of the largest Christian radio stations in Glasgow.
