Christians in Media: Shining in Media Spaces

Here at Christians in Media we want church family to be strengthened to shine out the Gospel message within their sphere of influence.

We need the next generation of Christians in media to be significant leaders in this important public space. We want them to be confident. Bold. Able to flourish in their faith.

Could this be you?

Media is ever-changing. Besides the traditional roles like broadcasting, producing and journalism, there’s PR, content creation and the list goes on! It’s evolving; there’s artificial intelligence that writes conversations. Algorithms that tailor our platform reach. With a click, we have the capacity to speak to masses.

The thread woven throughout whatever sphere of media you work in, or with, is storytelling. At Christians in Media we desire to see those stories shining out the life-affirming messages of faith, hope and love in their content. Part of how we support, encourage and inspire our community to do this is through our unique Mentoring Programme.

Through our Mentoring Programme we’re equipping the next generation of young Christians (aged 18-25 in the UK) who have a passion for their faith and media. Over six months we combine practical skills alongside faith-based support. You might be thinking like our recent alumni Rosalind Skillen,

‘I really wanted to see whether environmental journalism was something I wanted to pursue as a full-time career… The programme was really helpful with allowing me to discern what my career or future in the media might look like.’

Or Max Avard,

‘Before I undertook the programme, I knew nothing about the media world. I was just taking my first steps into radio, now I’m undertaking a broadcasting journalism master’s.’

Then there’s Anna Kressler who shared:

'It has been an absolute joy to have been given the opportunity to meet and connect with brothers and sisters, who are seeking to glorify the Lord within the field of media. Who are seeking to be lights in their workplaces. No matter what our role or gifting we have a shared identity. We are not just business partners, colleagues, mentors and mentees. Our job titles don’t define us. No. We are family, part of God’s family business. We are all children of the light!'

Let’s set the media sphere ablaze with God’s light. Whether you’re unsure about what media profession, or know the pathway you want to pursue, we’d love to hear from you.
