This generation is growing up with the reality that virtually any information we desire is only a few clicks away.

Bombarded with advertising and constantly made aware of the latest happenings from across the globe, we are the most informed generation ever, but is all this information doing us any good? It is good to pray for those we see suffering on our TV screens, but are we designed to see that amount of distress in our lifetime? Does all this information increase our anxiety and decrease our compassion?

We now live in a ‘Digital Age’ and for the most part have embraced it unquestioningly. We have gained some things and lost some things, but haven’t done enough reflecting to know what many of those things are. We are overloaded with information and underwhelmed by wisdom. The ability to filter information is a much needed skill. We are communicating more things to more people, yet struggling to feel heard and understood. With a smartphone in our hand how present are we in a conversation or meeting? They are essential for me and my team to our work, however, when we meet together the smartphones have their own meeting in another room! 

Most of us are drawn to the shiny side of technology. Are we also unwittingly embracing its dark side while values we hold dear are slowly suffocating? Among the Fusion team we have been asking lots of questions around what it means to leverage technology for student mission. We are convinced that technology can amplify and catalyse many more student movements here in the UK and further afield.
