How do you start a global movement? 

This is a question that, at this moment in time, I could really do with knowing the answer to because I want to be involved in starting a one!

Why? I hear you say.

It is a big statement of intent and could just be another grandiose dream in our over-hyped celebrity culture, where fame is worshipped and the ego is unchecked. I am hoping that if that is the case someone will gently tap me on the shoulder and point out my error.
 

The prophet Joel declares:

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,    

your old men will dream dreams,    

your young men will see visions
 

I am hoping, trusting and believing that the inspiration for such an aspiration comes from outside myself. That because God’s Spirit has been poured out, God’s sons and daughters are gripped with heaven’s agenda and they can boldly act out the dreams and visions from above.

So the dream is for a global student movement, where a growing multitude of students are moving towards Jesus. That is very different from exporting  our ‘brand’ around the world. In some ways the pressure is off; I am convinced a global student movement is already bubbling up and that you and I are being summoned to serve it, shape it and be part of it.

Why blog about it?

1.The story is unfolding and so the blog is an invitation to be part of a living narrative rather than reading the history book written in 2040.

2.The challenges faced are in real time and need God’s people to jump in and solve them

3.The blog is an invitation for prayer and participation. Are you in?

Perhaps I don’t need to know the answer to my initial question, because there isn’t one. There’s only a journey of faith and obedience to be embraced. Who is with me?
