Stuck For Something To Do This Summer?

Term has ended and you’re home, back to your old normal. To familiar and to family. You have three months ahead of you, how are you going to use it?

I know I used to struggle with the abrupt change of pace. The deadlines are done, the race to the end of term is over and the goodbyes to housemates have been said (and maybe a few tears have been shed). Suddenly you are home, you don’t have a house full of friends around you ready for a spontaneous night out, or there for the late night chats and the giggles at breakfast.

It all seems to slow down.

It is so easy to slip back into old rhythms. But, how has God changed you this year? How have you grown, what have you seen God do? And what does that look like now you are home?

Student mission is incredibly exciting. So is student life. Don’t lose that excitement, this change of pace doesn’t need to change your pace with God.

Grab this opportunity to plough into local church while you are home, and if you don’t have a church at home, check out the Student Linkup app to find one. Get stuck in serving over the summer, share stories of how you have seen God move in the last year. Gather your other student pals that are home, encourage each other and learn from each other. Build in discipleship, be bold and make yourself accountable. If there is anyone heading to university in September, take some time to chat with them. Share some of the things you wish you had known before you went. Share some top tips and most importantly share what God has been doing in your life. Stories are powerful and will always encourage.

Summer is a brilliant time to take stock, to reflect, to plan and to seek God on the next academic year but it’s also a time to grow. Our call to go and make disciples of all nations doesn’t pause over the summer. It just looks different.

It was at university that Katie learnt what it meant to follow Jesus, and she wants to see a generation of students invited to do the same. She loves it when students are bold in their faith and churches are creative in reaching students.
