24th December | Pause and Reflect

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

John 1:14

I remember being led in worship at a student night back in early October singing the Goodness Of God in which we sang "all my life you have been faithful, all my life you have been so so good" and wondering how many of us in the room really believe that to be true right now. How many of us would say God's faithfulness was the headline of this season. How many of us could sing of His faithfulness and know it to be true.

It’s been a chaotic year, to say the least, I think for many of us it’s been a year of confusion, disappointment and unexpected change. Have you struggled to know God’s faithfulness this year, or maybe questioned His faithfulness? That’s ok if you have, you are not alone in that. We see in the Christmas story that there was the promise of a messiah, he then rocked up as a baby born in a stable, no fanfare, no boujee crowns, not the king everyone was expecting but this little baby was the saviour of the world, full of unfailing love and faithfulness.

Why not pause now, let’s look back on this year, where have you seen God’s faithfulness? It might not be what you were expecting.

God sent his Son Jesus to be among us, to make His home here with us. We read in Exodus that God is abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness and because of this love, he Sent Son, full of unfailing love and faithfulness to live, and die and rise again for us.

Ahead of Christmas, let's celebrate the gift that is God's unfailing love and faithfulness. Let’s kick off the celebrations now, thanking God for his faithfulness.

If you are stuck for how to do that what not pray this really simple prayer:

Thank you God for your unfailing love and faithfulness! Thank you God that you sent you Son so that we could have life and have it to the full, whatever our circumstances.
