#prayfortheworld

This weekend has seen tragedy across the Globe. Social media has been flooded with support, prayers, hashtags and so many opinions.

There is so much that could be said about the events themselves, the peoples’ response, our world, what is right and what is wrong.

In a time of so much darkness, doubt and fear, what do we know?

We know God is good. We know God is faithful.  We know God is mighty and strong to save. We know God hears us when we cry out to him. We know God is with us.

I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
 If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.
I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you.
Psalm 139:7-12

God isn’t distant in the dark times. He Is there. He supports us. God doesn’t fear or panic. He is strong and will guide us always.

What would happen if we actually prayed as well as tweeted?

Pete Greig, founder of 24/7 prayer says, “I am convinced, however, that our constant activity is fruitless without first making that humble act of kneeling to pray. I am convinced that prayer is not only our greatest privilege, but also our greatest source of power.”

Prayer is more than a hashtag, it’s more than a nice saying. Prayer is powerful and can change lives.

What can we do as the world seems to fall apart around us? We can pray.
Who do we focus on when hope seems lost? We focus on God, who is bigger and more powerful than the evil around us.

Whether we are going through a dark time personally or praying for the world at this time, we can cry out to God and he hears us.

So why not spend some time talking to God today? Bring your pain, your anxiety, your heart felt cries to our mighty Father in heaven who has power to save.
